and also the only books i've read fully was Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn!!!!! I think that they rock and I know your guys' opinions, but I like them!! and I'm not an obsessed fan fyi
ok now what color to put this as...this color is boring to me ^_^ You're lack of having read any literature at all confounds and infuriates me. Please go to your local bookstore and pick up Farenheit 451, Ender's Game, The Great Gatsby, and a book of Poe's best. Then you'll have as much literature knowledge as... well, the smart kid in english class.

So I have literature knowledge and I'm 19 and yeah.... Not to offend you, but you're missing out. Also, how can you be bored of the Giver? It was awesome! I love utopian dystopia stories. I'm reading 1984 right now.

| I know I might get i trouble for this but
@Hardgay...you're kind of a douche
@Clifford..the great gatsby..really.. one of the DUMBEST book I have ever read. You should have recommended "To kill a mockingbird" or something like that. Although I do agree with you that Poe is fantastic :)
some people just don;t like to read. Give her a break. Just because someone doesn't like to read doesn't mean they are stupid or something.
Sorry I know I sound harsh but for cereal!

| Though it can be a bit dry, Gatsby is one of my favorites just because the characters are so realistic. F. Scott Fitzgerald rewrote the book over and over again until it was completely and utterly perfect. I should have mentioned To Kill a Mockingbird. Love it. I wish Harper Lee would write something else. She is 83 now though. I don't want to be mean, I'm just opinionated. You can't say you read books when the book in question is really glorified vampire fanfiction by a soccer mom. | |

| Whether you like to read or not, there's still instances in highschool where you need to read different books, like I know at St. Francis you need to read "To Kill a Mockingbird" as a freshman, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings" as a sophomore, and "Lord of the Flies" as a senior. If you've graduated from St. Francis, you must have read at least one of those. | |

| I didn't have to read "To Kill a Mocking Bird", but I read the other 2, and ruined "Lord of the Flies" for my class. Though it's weird, they gave us the longer books in the earlier grades, and the shorter ones at the end?
As well, I don't know if it's because of Twilight or what, but is it just me, or is it weird that Anne Rice is writing angel books now?

| I think you're missing out. I LOVE to read. You don't have to read what everyone else likes. I've read some of the Twilight books, and at the time I enjoyed them. I'll stick by that, but now I read more of the mysteries, stuff by Dean Koontz (which I do NOT suggest you try reading if you get bored easily because he is a super detailed righter). The one thing you have to remember about books is the beginning is generally going to be much harder to get through, more boring. Reading is a great time killer for me, sooo if you have time I'd try it again if I were you.
GUYS I never had to read "Lord of the Flies" but I did have to read "To Kill a Mockingbird" and, "I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings"l I really loved those two books ^_^.

| @ Ben Good observation. The books got shorter the higher advanced in school you became. I never had to read Lord of the flies but I did read both IKWTCBS and TKAM.
@Ali I think you should read VC Andrews books They are delightfully tacky!

| Never read To Kill a Mocking Bird in school. I remember I did read The Little Prince, which is a good, short amusing book, but is one you have to think about. Farenheit 451 was also a decent book, though it was slightly boring. The Giver I absolutely do not like, it was boring, and ugh... maybe it was just Mr. Olson reading the book to the entire class that ruined it, lol. I did read the Twilight series, which is 'good' I enjoyed it... the movies absolutely ruined it... however you can really find the same level of work on Quizilla. However if it's just laid back having a fun time reading grab a good Stephanie Plum novel, it's a whole series about an accidental female bounty hunter in Jersey, and it very rather amusing. Or, if your more into supernatural, theres a series by Kim Harrison that starts with Dead Witch Walking. That series is not really boring and keeps me interested throughout, even my mother reads them, and she normally hates supernatural (witches, vampires, and such). Or theres another series by Libba Bray that starts with A Great and Terrible Beauty... kinda slow start through the first two chapters, but gets really enjoyable and fast paced afterward. There are always Anne Rice books, but they tend to get dry and hard to read from time to time, depending on what book your reading. | |

I did graduate from there...I refused to read I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings...whoever actually knows me knows why....I didn't need to read To Kill a Mockingbird that I remember and I got to bored with Lord of the Flies so I failed all those tests....and Ms. Anderson kinda read whatever book she had outloud lol it was better....then I wasn't bored with it....

Firstly, welcome to the forum! I know I'm a little late on that account, given that I've been off the forum for about a month now, but I hope you'll accept in turn regardless. All of those are wonderful books (as is 1984), although I must confess that I did not enjoy The Great Gatsby quite so much as I did the others. EDIT: Oh, hmmm, I missed the "random topic change" a while back. Food related stuff eh? Well...I discovered that movie theatre popcorn makes me ill today

| I know Gatsby is suppose to be this great literature but I really didn't like it. I had no emotion for the characters and the plot didn't suck me in. I really like the Sword of Truth series. It is a fantasy book series and it is incredible. The books are very long but it is great. And this comes from someone who doesn't like a ton of fantasy role playing whatevers.
And popcorn is delicious. I love going to the Karmelcorn place at my work and getting the box of the mixed karmel, cheese, and regular butter popcorn. Also its one of my son's favorite foods. Almost every time I ask him what he wants to eat be it meal or not he says "POP..CORN!!!!"
